Intramammary infections during the periparturient period in Argentine dairy heifers.

Prevalence of intramammary infections at prepartum and postpartum in primigravid heifers from five dairy herds located in the central dairy area of Argentina was determined. Mammary secretion samples from 140 heifers (560 mammary quarters) were obtained 14 days prior to the expected calving day and within 7 days after parturition and subjected to bacteriological analysis. No clinical mastitis c...

Prevalence and duration of intramammary infection in Danish heifers during the peripartum period.

Milk samples were collected from 180 heifers from 20 herds around parturition to study the prevalence and persistence of intramammary infection (IMI). A total of 3382 quarter milk samples was collected each week from 4 wk before parturition to 4 wk after parturition. Staphylococcus chromogenes, the most commonly found bacterial species before parturition, was isolated from 15% of all quarters. ...

Hematological and biochemical profile during gestation period in Sahiwal cows

It was demonstrated in this study that the mean values of the different red blood cell count and white blood cell parameters showed significant changes during gestation. RBC, PCV and Hb increased while total WBC and segmented neutrophils increased after the second gestation period in the second period. The numbers of total leucocytes and segmented neutrophils increased after the second period.
